Understanding immunotherapy

Immunotherapy (also known as biological therapy) is a treatment that uses a person’s own immune system to fight cancer. It uses drugs to change how the immune system works and help it to find and attack cancer cells. This information sheet for patients provides detailed information on immunotherapy, including how the treatment is given, who decides if it is needed, and side-effects of immunotherapy.
