A video guide to cervical screening
This video provides information about cervical screening.
Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers and can be prevented through regular cervical screening tests and the HPV vaccine. A cervical screening test, known as a CST, is a simple test used to check the health of your cervix. Cervical screening looks for the presence of the Human Papillomavirus, also known as HPV, which can lead to cell changes in the cervix.
Almost all cervical cancers are caused by HPV. Even if you have had the HPV vaccination, it is also important to have a cervical screening test every five years, if you are:
- A woman or a person with a cervix
- Between the ages of 25 and 74 years old, and
- Are, or have ever been, sexually active
