Your new baby's screening test
This translated brochure provides information on the blood screening test that all newborn babies in Australia undergo in the first few days of life. It describes the need to screen babies for serious genetic conditions and how early treatment can prevent intellectual and physical disability or even death. Also known as the Guthrie test or “heel-prick” test, the brochure informs that the test has been part of routine care for all newborn babies in Australia for over 40 years.
