The information sheet aims to encourage shared decision making, informing women about their risk of a tear and what can be done to reduce their chance of experiencing a third or fourth degree tear. The information is designed to be given to women at an antenatal appointment between 30-36 weeks. It has been developed by a consumer working group with medical and midwifery input.
