Invasive group A streptococcal disease
Group A streptococcus is a type of bacteria that is found on the skin and in the throat. It can cause common childhood illnesses and a life-threatening condition called Invasive group A streptococcal disease. It is usually responsible for common childhood conditions like strep throat, tonsillitis, impetigo or school sores, and scarlet fever.
