15 Feb 2024... Information for refugees and migrant men about family violence. Family violence refers to a pattern of ongoing abusive and controlling behaviours that take many different forms. It happens within intimate relationships as well as between family members. Family violence can affect anyone, regardless of sex, age, race, sexuality, disability, gender identity or lifestyle. However, violent behaviour is most frequently used by men, as a way to exercise power and control over women and children.

A brochure developed by Migrant Information Centre (East Melbourne) with information on services you can access for you and your children's needs when you are experiencing family violence. It also has information on women's support groups and respectful relationships programs in Victoria.

This Easy English resource explains that family and domestic violence happens when someone hurts you or makes you feel unsafe. This could be a family member, partner, carer, or someone you live with. It includes physical harm, bullying, sexual abuse, taking your money, or neglect. If this happens, speak to someone you trust or contact Safe Steps.

25 Feb 2022... The Information Sheet 'Family Violence: What Police do' has been designed to explain Victoria Police's response to family violence. They have been written for people who have been affected or harmed by family violence, people who have committed family violence, and people and/or services supporting them.
